Towards a transdiagnostic tool for assessing inhibitory control impairments in clinical populations

Psychiatric conditions like alcohol use disorder (AUD), Korsakoff syndrome (KS) and the behavioral variant of frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD), are characterized by inhibitory control deficits and neurophysiological alterations. This project aims to develop transdiagnostic tool for assessing altered cortical activity in inhibitory control networks in clinical populations, combining inhibitory control measurements with data from neuromodulatory and neurophysiological techniques. Single-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (spTMS) and EEG recording are used to investigate neural integrity and inter-cortical connectivity on inhibitory control networks. Applying machine learning will establish a direct link between neural activity and diagnostic categories based on inhibition control performance.
