In the regular line of funding, direct medical assistance for patients, measures toward improving medical infrastructure, and projects that provide medical training and professional advancement in developing countries are supported.
The funding program “Hospital Partnerships – Partners Strengthen Health” finances partnership projects between German organizations in the healthcare sector and partners worldwide, and is funded jointly by EKFS and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (“BMZ”). This funding program is stewarded by the German Agency for International Cooperation (“GIZ”).
In light of the great hardship and problems facing the people from Ukraine, since the spring of 2022 Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung has made temporary funding available for relief projects in Ukraine or for refugees in Germany and neighboring countries. In accordance with the purpose of the foundation, the money can be utilized solely for medical projects.
