Emergency medical relief for Ukraine increased to over 2 million euros
Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe, December 15, 2022 – The situation for the people in Ukraine has escalated further. In light of the severe need there, over the past months Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung (EKFS) has gotten eight additional funding supports underway to provide emergency aid for Ukraine.

Zur nachhaltigen Stärkung der Patientenversorgung und der klinischen Forschung in einem einkommensschwachen Land schreibt die EKFS zwei Stiftungsprofessuren mit Fördermitteln in Höhe von insgesamt 3 Millionen Euro für 5 Jahre aus.
Human Capacity Building for Quality Eye Health Care in Western Tanzania
Situation:
About four million people in the Rukwa, Katavi and Kigoma regions of Western Tanzania are without adequate eye care. About 0,5 percent of the people are blind and 1,7 percent suffer from moderate or severe visual impairment. Up to 80 percent of visual impairments are avoidable or treatable. Many people‘s life and earning capacity can be improved by improving basic eye care services.
Objectives:
Poor people in the regions of Rukwa, Katavi, and Kigoma have better access to quality eye health services.

Humanitarian award of 100,000 euros goes to Medical Director of Attat Hospital, Sister Rita Schiffer

Höhe, October 13, 2022 – This year the Else Kröner Fresenius Award for Development Cooperation in Medicine is going to Sister Rita Schiffer from the Medical Mission Sisters, a gynecologist and medical director of Attat Hospital in Ethiopia, for the project “Sustainable Surgical Care in Attat”. At 100,000 euros it is one of the most important and best-endowed prizes in the field of development cooperation in medicine.
