Scaling up community-based Primary Eye Care in Ghana

Situation:

In Ghana, 301,000 people have visual impairment (1.07% of population). The lead cause of this is refractive error (44.4%). 95% of Ghanaians who require glasses do not have access to them. Few public health facilities in urban areas provide basic eye care services. Eye screening and glasses is not insured. A focus on school children has a spill over effect on educational outcomes and wellbeing.

Objectives:

Universal Access to Intercultural Maternal and Child Health in Camiri

Situation:

The project region, with high vulnerability to drought, low provision of water and basic sanitation, has a high indigenous population with low immunization rates, low risk perception of COVID-19, and cultural barriers that limit access to health services. Before the pandemic, Bolivia was already considered one of the countries in South America with the worst maternal and child health indicators, right after Haiti, especially in rural and indigenous populations.

Medical and social aid for leprosy patients in Jharkhand

Leprosy is an infectious disease and neglected tropical disease that affects the skin and peripheral nerves, leading to progressive physical disability and deformities if not diagnosed and treated early. Fear of stigma and discrimination is a major barrier to seeking health care and to case finding. Disability Prevention and Medical Rehabilitation (DPMR) and social rehabilitation of persons affected by leprosy have an important health and societal impact. The effective implementation of these measures represent a challenge in India given a weak patient referral system.

MedEvac and Emergency medical trainings Ukraine

Situation:

After the war broke out last February, the increased number of wounded civilians and patients that could not be cared for sufficiently, brought the Ukrainian health system to its limits. The implementation of martial law inhibited the evacuation of patients across borders by local (male) staff as well as the entrance of airborne, efficient MedEvac means in the Ukrainian national airspace.
