Hospital Partnerships: "Global" funding line
Within the framework of the funding program “Hospital Partnerships – Partners Strengthen Health”, together with the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is supporting partnership projects between German organizations in the health sector and partners in medium- and low-income countries.

Ein Zusammenschluss aus Friede Springer Stiftungsprofessur für globale Kindergesundheit an der UW/H, des malawischen Gesundheitsministeriums und Verbands für Kinder- und Jugendmedizin, der Kamuzu-Universität für Gesundheitswissenschaften, sowie der Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung ermöglicht ein Zentrum zur Bekämpfung nicht-übertragbarer Krankheiten bei Kindern und Jugendlichen in Blantyre, Malawi.
Primary Health and HIV/Aids Programme Tanzania
Situation:
The health care system in Tanzania is inadequate. There is a lack of qualified health personnel and medical facilities. Nationwide, there is only one doctor for every 50,000 inhabitants. Many hospitals are poorly equipped, and the state provides hardly any funds for renovations, medical equipment and staff training. In the rural, poorly developed region in the southwest, the situation is particularly precarious. The local population often receives inadequate medical care. In addition, there is a high rate of HIV infection.

Situation:
Bolenge is located in the northwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Only by water is it possible to reach even completely remote villages where there were otherwise neither medical staff nor medicine. More than 52,600 people have been treated in a total of 60 trips since 2011, around 4,000 operations have been performed, 53 children have been helped into the world.
Mother & Child Health in Ghana
The Hunger Project (THP) office has existed in Accra, the capital of Ghana, since 1995. Meanwhile the team from THP provides stewardship for 45 epicenters nationwide while accompanying them step by step toward self-reliance. The topic of mother & child health receives a greater focus at the epicenter clinics in Ghana. Accordingly, healthcare staff at the clinics is trained in cooperation with the local healthcare authority, Ghana Health Service, in preparation for childbirth, birth support, and children’s nutrition.
