Plasma activated liquids for the prevention of postoperative intra-abdominal adhesions (EndoPAL)
Postoperative adhesions are pathologically occurring bridges of connective tissue between the peritoneum of the abdominal organs and the abdominal wall, which occur in 67-93% of all operations. Abdominal adhesions are responsible for severe and chronic pain syndromes, 15-20% of all cases of secondary infertility and for 50-70% of all mechanical ileus diseases. The annual costs due to abdominal adhesions are estimated between 1.18 and 1.33 billion US dollars solely for the US health system.

From phenomena to theory-guided mechanisms: changing perspectives on ADHD
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most frequent neurodevelopmental disorders. Although past research has made progress in describing ADHD and identifying its biological and psychological correlates, there is no coherent mechanistic framework integrating the various disturbances. We propose a novel ADHD theory and perspective change. If successful, our project will provide evidence for the first mechanistic neurocognitive ADHD theory that integrates and helps understanding the heterogeneous, fluctuating symptoms of this disorder.
