Höhe, May 16, 2025 – Last night, the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung (EKFS) conferred the 2025 Else Kröner Fresenius Prize for Medical Research to Prof. Dr. Anastasia Khvorova for her pioneering work in the field of RNA-based therapies. At 2.5 million euros, the prize is one of the most prestigious and generously endowed of any medical research prize worldwide. Khvorova plans to use the prize money to advance the development of new RNA therapies targeting genetic and neurodegenerative diseases such as Huntington’s disease.

Five outstanding scientists honored with the Publication Prize 2025

The Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung (EKFS) will confer the Publication Prize 2025 to five outstanding scientists during the second Alumni Day taking place today in Frankfurt am Main. The prizewinners are being recognized for their particularly excellent findings, which they published in 2024 and achieved thanks to funding from the EKFS. Each of the prizes is endowed with €10,000 that the prizewinners are free to spend at their own discretion.

Felix Burda Award 2025: Research team around Prof. Jakob N. Kather honored for AI project on colorectal cancer prognosis

"Prevention connects us..." was the motto when the Felix Burda Foundation rolled out the red carpet for the 20th time to honor outstanding achievements in colorectal cancer prevention. Prof. Jakob N. Kather, Xiaofeng Jiang, Prof. Daniel Truhn and PD Dr. Sebastian Försch received the Felix Burda Award in the "Medicine and Science" category on May 9 in Berlin on behalf of the entire research team. "Our research shows how powerful AI models already are today and what potential they have for healthcare in the future," said Prof.

Else Kröner Wiedereinstiegsförderung für forschende Ärztinnen und Ärzte 2025 (only available in German)

Ziel der Ausschreibung der Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung ist es, in Klinik und Forschung besonders qualifizierten Ärztinnen und Ärzten im Anschluss an eine längere Familien- oder Betreuungsphase mit flexibel und individuell einsetzbaren Fördermitteln den effektiven Wiedereinstieg und die Fortsetzung ihrer erfolgversprechenden Karriere zu ermöglichen. Dafür schreibt die Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung für das Jahr 2025 bis zu drei Förderungen aus.
