Solar Residiere for Westukraine
Situation:
Following heavy bombardment of energy infrastructure, the electricity supply in Ukraine is unstable, with the severity and duration of power cuts varying considerably depending on the region and the security situation. The main problems stem both from direct damage to generation capacity and substations caused by missile and drone attacks, and from emergency shutdowns, which have been exacerbated this year by severe frost and grid overloads. Hospitals, in particular, are suffering from the destruction of energy infrastructure
Objectives:
At the three hospitals,
- the aim is to ensure greater energy independence.
- the solar-plus-storage systems are designed to keep operating theatres, oxygen concentrators and neonatal care equipment running during power cuts lasting 6–8 hours.
- the aim is to reduce operating costs.
The periods without electricity are significantly shorter thanks to the electricity generated by the solar panels
Electricity is generated on the hospital’s or waterworks’ own roofs and stored in their own batteries
The solar panels and battery storage systems have a lifespan of at least 20 years
This project enables hospitals to provide medical care in the Lviv and Volyn regions with moire than 150.000 people
