Situation:

In Malawi, many children die from preventable causes because life-saving emergency measures are delayed or not performed at all. A lack of trained staff and standardised processes worsens the situation.

Objectives:

Improve acute emergency care for children in Malawi by introducing a digital decision support system based on the national ETAT guidelines.

Indicators:

- Adherence to ETAT guidelines
- High acceptability and usability of the digital ETAT solution
- Uptake of the digital ETAT solution

Measures:
  1. Set up Project & Project Mgmt Structures
  2. User centered design of the digital ETAT solution
  3. Technical app development
  4. Implementation pilot and roll-out
  5. Evaluation of usability, acceptability and clinical impact
  6. Prepare scaling up & hand-over

Sustainability:

After the project ends, the digital ETAT solution will be operated by the Ministry of Health and integrated into the national health polics, ensuring long-term use

Special features:

Holistic digital implementation of ETAT guidelines in Malawi; strong end-user as well as MoH involvement from the start; combining research, technology, and training; national roll out and take-over by Ministry of Health
