Attapeu Public Health School Development Support
Situation:
Over the past years, Attapeu Province has faced significant challenges in health, education, and poverty, compounded by Laos’ broader economic fragility. The province also faces substantial shortfalls in health infrastructure and workforce capacity, leading to significant disparities in service availability and quality.
Objectives:
Supporting the Attapeu Public Health School to strengthen nurse education in line with national standards in order to improve health care in the province.
- The Attapeu Public Health School has an improved administration and management system
- Theoretical and demonstration skills for teachers and students are improved
- The quality of the internship provided in the partner health facilities is increased
- The learning environment and life skills of the students are improved
- Support Quality Assurance process implementation
- Administration and management training
- Strengthen teaching methodology for teachers
- Strengthen the knowledge and teaching skills of the Clinical teachers
- Support implementation of the nursing curriculum Support better coordination between theoretical and clinical teachers and the organisation of internships.
- Provide scholarships for impoverished students
The project strengthens APHS staff capacities, systems, and internal processes so that key academic and administrative activities can be managed effectively, and efficiently over the long term It also promotes institutional ownership and supports the development of long-term financing strategies to ensure sustainability beyond external support.
The project stands out for its close partnership with a provincial government public health school, helping to build a strong and sustainable local health workforce in Attapeu Province.
