Survey: 35 percent report weight gain since the beginning of the Corona pandemic

Scientists at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) have investigated possible changes in adult dietary habits and body weight after more than two years of pandemic. The results: 35 percent of those surveyed have gained weight, in some cases considerably, since the beginning of the pandemic. However, 15 percent of the adults have in part drastically lost weight since the beginning of the Corona crisis.

Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler der Technischen Universität München (TUM) haben Erwachsene befragt, ob und wie weit sich Ernährung, Bewegung und Körpergewicht nach mehr als zwei Jahren Pandemie noch im Pandemie-Modus befinden oder sich wieder „normalisiert“ haben und welche Rolle die Psyche dabei spielt. Die Ergebnisse einer deutschlandweiten Befragung zum Thema Ernährung und Bewegung während der Pandemie (2. Welle) werden am 28. Juli 2022 um 11 Uhr online vorgestellt.

Aortic valve stenosis (AVS) is the most common primary valve disease and AVS is associated with high mortality. Especially in eldery patients with an increased surgical risk, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) offers several advantages compared to surgical aortic valve replacement, the current standard of care. Nevertheless, there is a high risk of atherothrombotic complications such as stroke in the first months after TAVR.
