Impact of gut microbiota and microbiota-derived metabolites in severe acute pancreatitis – a global prospective clinical-translational study
Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a common and potentially life-threatening disease without causative therapeutic options. The composition of the gut microbiome could play a decisive pathophysiological role since AP significantly disrupts the intestinal barrier, triggering a life-threatening inflammatory response syndrome.

ForTra is announcing a call for proposals to produce cell and gene therapeutics under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conditions which are intended to be subsequently utilized in a clinical study involving patients.
Gene and cell therapies are developing rapidly and are key to future medical treatment strategies. This is being addressed, among other things, by the funding measures of the National Strategy for Gene and Cell-Based Therapies.

Since July 1, 2025, Professor Constanze Schmidt has been the new Director of the Clinic for Cardiology and Pneumology at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) – and the only woman to currently hold a chair in cardiology in Germany. The physician is researching atrial cardiomyopathy, a pathological alteration of the atria that can lead to atrial fibrillation and strokes.
