EKFS finances two lines of funding in the humanitarian sector: the regular line of funding and the Ukraine relief projects.
Hospital Partnerships
Within the framework of the initiative Hospital Partnerships, together with the EKFS the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is supporting partnership projects between German organizations in the health sector and partners in medium- and low-income countries.
Regular Line of Funding
Alongside direct medical assistance for patients and measures towards improving local medical infrastructure, the foundation equally supports initial and advanced medical training projects in developing countries. Application submission is possible at any time.
Graduate and Research Schools
Application submission for collegiates is only possible within the course of a currently open call for applications. These calls are issued on a periodical basis.
Else Kröner Research Schools for Physicians
Funding for a Successful Professional Career as Physician Performing Research: The Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung wants to support the medical faculties and university hospitals in Germany within the framework of group research programmes.
Else Kröner Fresenius Prize for Medical Research 2013
Professor Ruslan Medzhitov, a world-famous research scientist in the field of immunobiology, received the research prize endowed with 4 million euros on June 5th 2013. The prize was presented to him by Johanna Wanka, the German Federal Minister for Education and Research.
