Else Kröner-Promotionskolleg JSAM: Promotion of young medical scientists in ageing medicine

Due to demographic change, the treatment of old and very old people is becoming increasingly important in clinical practice. This impacts almost all medical disciplines, including surgery, internal medicine and neurology, from basic research to translational research to clinical and healthcare research. The aim of the Graduate School JSAM is therefore to define targets for therapeutic interventions that counteract age-related alterations of cellular and systemic functions.

Thematically, the JSAM thus ties in with the already existing EKFK AntiAge at the University Hospital Jena. The close co-operation between both programs through joint scientific events and mentoring agreements, as well as a systematic qualification programme, helps young medical students to become enthusiastic about an academic career as clinician scientists in the field of ageing medicine at an early stage and to qualify accordingly.
