A CAR-T cell approach for solid tumor attack using neuroblastoma as a model (CASTAN)

CASTAN is evaluating a form of adoptive T cell therapy for the treatment of solid tumors. Adoptive T cell therapy means that the patient's immune system is artificially enhanced in order to kill cancer cells better and more specifically. In our project, the cancer cell is a neuroblastoma cell. Neuroblastoma is the most common solid extracranial tumour in childhood and is associated with a survival rate of <10% in the event of a relapse. The aim of CASTAN is to improve adoptive T cell therapy for solid tumors and thus increase the survival of children suffering from neuroblastoma. To achieve this goal, novel 3D cell culture models will be developed and the interaction between differently optimized T cells, tumor and tumor stroma will be investigated.
