Community Outreach and Local Training – Bali, Indonesia

Situation:

In Bali, many children with disabilities have limited access to osteopathic and rehabilitative care. Families often lack financial resources, professional support and appropriate assistive devices. Local healthcare professionals also need additional training to ensure sustainable care.

Objectives:

The project improves access to osteopathic and rehabilitative care for children with disabilities in Bali. It provides regular treatment, trains families and local professionals, and supplies appropriate assistive devices. The goal is to improve children's quality of life and establish sustainable local care structures.

Indicators:

Project success will be measured by the number of children receiving care, osteopathic and rehabilitative treatments provided, families and caregivers trained, and local healthcare professionals receiving further education.

Additional indicators include the provision of appropriate assistive devices, collaboration with local partners and the strengthening of sustainable healthcare structures.

Sustainability:

Training local healthcare professionals, families and caregivers ensures that knowledge remains within the community. Collaboration with Dhyana Pura University, local organizations and community health services strengthens existing structures, enabling continued support for children with disabilities beyond the project's three-year funding period.

Special features:

The project uniquely combines osteopathic care, rehabilitation and practical training. Hands with Heart Foundation collaborates with Dhyana Pura University, special needs schools, local foundations and community health services. This approach provides individualized care for children, actively involves families and strengthens local healthcare professionals.
