Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is an aggressive tumor of the lymphatic system. These tumors are known to be both molecularly and biologically heterogenous. They respond differently to treatments, which is why they are classified into subtypes and subgroups. Metabolic signatures, however, are not included in the current classification. Past attempts were met with caution, as studies of extracted tissue can suffer from bias due to the artificial microenvironment. We propose an advanced MRI technique that allows examination of biochemical changes in tumors without taking tissue samples.

Osteosarcoma is a rare malignancy that is still lethal to approximately one third of the affected patients. Perioperative and palliative chemotherapy remain the therapeutic backbone of localized and advanced osteosarcoma, respectively. Novel targeted therapeutics for the treatment of osteosarcoma are urgently needed. Here, we will use a proteomic approach that is based on the biotinylation of bloodstream-accessible proteins to characterize the blood-tissue interface in primary tumors, as well as metastatic and pre-metastatic organs in the context of osteosarcoma.

The Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is an emerging mosquito-borne virus in the tropics and Southern Europe. In Latin America, CHIKV was introduced in 2013, infecting millions of people. CHIKV infection frequently leads to severe acute symptoms and to chronic sequelae, sometimes including debilitating arthralgia, in about 45% of patients. Specific treatment and robust biomarkers to predict chronic courses in patients are not available.

In this observational trial, we investigate the SARS-CoV-2-related immune reaction by patients with insufficient immune status (dialysis patients) and immune status suppressed by special medicine (organ transplant recipients) as well as healthy medical personnel, which will all be investigated at least once before and several times after COVID-19 disease or especially after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination. This data will be related to the clinical data investigating risks and protection for a new COVID-19 disease acquisition.
